Located on a quiet residential street in Asheville, this 1904 restored stone home is only one mile from the gates of Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville. Mission Hospital is only a half mile away as well. The Inn offers six comfortable and bright bedrooms with plush bedding and amenities rarely found in hotels and other B&Bs. We offer central air conditioning, Wi-Fi wireless internet access, cable TV, a flat-screen LCD TV and private bath in each guestroom. In addition to the interior features the Inn boasts an elegant, dramatic and relaxing garden complete with a gazebo containing lighting and ceiling fan for guest enjoyment. To make your stay even better we include a gourmet three-course, plated breakfast each morning at 9:00 a.m. As you enter the circular driveway in front of North Lodge Bed and Breakfast you pass under a magnificent line of historic trees to park under the quaint porte-cochere for check in. In fact, North Lodge has won an award from the City of Asheville for its unique preservation of those trees. Once guests have settled into their guestroom ample parking is provided next to the Inn and away from the street. There are nine spaces and finding an opening is never a problem.
Guests are greeted in the foyer which leads directly into the Front Parlor. The Parlor contains a gas-burning fireplace fronted by comfortable seating, original hardwood flooring and oriental rugs. The Parlor also serves as the gateway to an inviting Stone Porch that covers the entire front of the Inn. Formerly an exterior porch prior to the Inn's usage as a Tuberculosis Hospital, it is now enclosed with beautiful windows that surround and stonework on all four walls. Seating on the Stone Porch allows guests to enjoy those same things you would enjoy at the garden gazebo during days of inclimate weather or simply a change of scenery. The Stone Porch, while excellent for rest and relaxation, is also the place to find information regarding activities, adventures and sights around Western North Carolina. Among the literature our guests can also find an extensive DVD selection to enjoy on the flat-screen TV found in their guestroom. It is definitely one of those areas used regularly for the simple things, such as enjoying our afternoon snacks and a cup of hot chocolate.
The Parlor is also the gateway to the elegant Dining Room which has Victorian influenced wallpaper in burnt orange and cream colored hues. The furnishings are a French Country sideboard and glass cabinet along with a large dining table that can easily seat ten. The hardwood flooring is covered by a beautiful oriental rug and a fireplace completes the ambience of that room. Enjoy pastries and fresh-baked cookies every afternoon in the Dining Room. An informal survey of our guests certainly confirms that the chocolate chip cookies are the running favorite. For those with tastes beyond cookies, when nothing else will do, popcorn is available all day. To compliment the afternoon treats coffee, teas, hot chocolate and cider drinks are provided all day, every day. Our Guest Pantry, located just off the Dining Room includes a refrigerator stocked with sodas of all kinds as well as a water cooler for refreshment. A second refrigerator is provided for guest usage for keeping personal food or leftovers enjoyed at the many local restaurants. A guest microwave is provided as well for re-heating those treats and making sure the popcorn satisfies every taste. The Guest Pantry also includes something rarely found in other Asheville Bed and Breakfasts - a Business Center. The center includes a laptop computer and printer for printing anything from recipes to those necessary electronic airplane tickets. It is also the perfect spot to research Western North Carolina and plan those daily activities that are numerous in Asheville, the mountains and the surrounding areas.
A walk around the exterior of North Lodge on Oakland will include a tour of our Gardens. This space includes an array of different types of plantings and floral features, along with a relaxing fountain just steps away from the gazebo. The gazebo includes seating for four with a ceiling fan and lighting for activities throughout the day. A visit to the gazebo allows our guests to enjoy nature at its best, quiet time for reading, relaxation for that perfect glass of wine or the simple pleasure of simply doing nothing.
