This package includes two daytime tickets for two consecutive day visits to the Historic Biltmore Estate (house, grounds, garden, farm and winery), and two nights or more lodging at the North Lodge on Oakland B&B. Flower Carpet 2010 At Biltmore Estate What: Flower Carpet is a unique, one-of-a-kind flower exhibit. Design is based and interpreted from elements of the estate. Biltmore’s Flower Carpet is the largest to be seen in the USA and measures 14,000 square feet. Evening ticket includes Biltmore House evening visit, flame braziers and path lighting on the carpet, with an opportunity for guests to walk through the carpet along paths, and enjoy live jazz music in the Tea House. Where: Displayed on the South Terrace of Biltmore House. Although the Vanderbilts never had a Flower Carpet, patterned beds can be found throughout the historical gardens by recommendation from George, and the South Terrace is a fitting location since it was a place of entertainment. Why: Romantic evening experience for guests. It highlights our landscaping and horticulture departments and demonstrates their expert knowledge. Christmas at Biltmore Begins November 5, 2010 Christmas as Biltmore Estate is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking about making those reservations to enjoy the festivities that surround Biltmore Estate during the season. North Lodge on Oakland is happy to handle the details for you with your reservation. This year’s Christmas Theme is: A Vanderbilt Christmas Celebration. Guests can take a step back in time when they visit Biltmore House for the 2010 Candlelight Christmas Evening season. Guests will experience an array of activities that Mr. Vanderbilt offered to his own family and friends. Guests enjoy a self-guided walking visit that takes them through four floors and the basement. The self-guided visit requires the ability to maneuver approximately 400 stairs throughout the visit. An elevator is available for access between the first and second floors of the House (wheelchair accessible), but the third and fourth floors and basement will require maneuvering approximately 60 stairs (30 up and 30 down) per floor. Candlelight Evenings are conducted from November 12, 2010 – January 1, 2011 and entry times vary and may begin as early as 5:30pm Candlelight Christmas Evening is NOT available on the following dates: Tuesday, November 23; Thursday, November 25; Friday, December 24; Saturday, December 25 The Front Lawn of Biltmore House features an Evergreen “forest” between the fountain and the Rampe Deuce. The centerpiece is a huge evergreen tree surrounded by evergreens of different sizes. During the evening, the “forest” sparkles with thousands of lights. Biltmore entrance road (Lodge Gate) is lined with decorated and lit Spruce trees. The Lodge Gate is lit to accent architectural features. The Admissions Gate house and trees are lined with lights. These are ideal for those days touring the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Biltmore Estate grounds, or even on one of the many hiking activities. But don't stop there - I'm sure guests of our Inn have many other great ways to put these to use. Whatever you choose, it's sure to be the perfect opportunity for some quiet time together.
